Local housing needs and South Cambridgeshire's plan to the 2030s

I'm at the District Council tomorrow where there is a petition being presented to the full council expressing concern about the plans for where future housing will be built across South Cambridgeshire.
The parish councils putting together the petition are mainly in the Bourn area, and who are unhappy about plans to build significant numbers of houses on what was Bourn Airfield. Their argument is that these proposals will effectivly join up the villages round there in one big development. There are similar concerns expressed by people in Babraham about the houses proposed to the east of Sawston.
There is a South Cambs display on at Sawston (Spicers Pavilion) on 2 Sept or this Friday at Great Shelford to understand more.
The process for identifying sites to build on has been a long one - at one point some very large areas of land in and around Thriplow, Whittlesford and near Heathfield were put forward, though they do not appear to be in the plans now.
I feel for the people living at Bourn - but I know the process has been thorough.
