had a meeting this morning with County highways cycleways people - and the chair of Duxford Parish council - to see if we can push Network Rail and Greater Anglia into thinking seriously about the possibility of a cycle route under the A505 using the rail bridge and coming in to the rail station.
As the cycleway now being built at great speed to the east out to Granta Park shows, the station at Whittlesford is a real transport hub. But to the south, there isn't a cycleway except the one along the road to Hinxton. With Welchs Transport offering to provide land round their new site, which sits on the A505 junction with Moorfield Road towards Duxford, there is a real chance of a cycleway from Duxford and to the station.
But the rail company are very opposed and always have been.
Our next move is to get Sustrans involved because this is going to be hard work.
