Not quite the end, but the planning application to build a 65 acre solar farm on green belt land between Thriplow and Heathfield was withdrawn by the applicants the day before this week's planning committee meeting at the district council.
There have been three public meetings held by Thriplow parish council on this and a lot of effort in researching the pros and cons has been done by local people.
The application can be put in again, but with the pending changes proposed by the government that would restrict such development to only the lowest quality farmland, this may not happen.
My own view is that a more considered application will be put in at some point in the future and we will have to see what happens then.
