Planning decision - Burma Road

Attended the district council planning committee to put forward the parish council and residents' views opposing the plan to build a house in the garden of one of the existing houses at the entrance to Burma Road. Unfortunately the planning committee felt that if they opposed the application it would go to appeal and be won, so the house will be built.

I had expected to be addressing the committee regarding the solar farm bid for thriplow, but that application was withdrawn.

Although this area is technically within whittlesford parish council, it is very much part of the fabric of Duxford airfield, consisting of the officers and NCOs quarters, built before World War II. Some of the houses were listed in 2002. The importance of Duxford airfield, and its social history, ie the lives of the men and woman who worked and served there, has become more recognised in recent years. But none of that counts for much in planning law, and so the house will be built.
