Cave, cave, someone's coming!

It was the highlight of Whittlesford's parish council meeting last evening when the Duxford & Whittlesford Scouts turned up to bid for funding for their huge drainpipe - otherwise known as a caving system - for use by all the various agegroups and also for local schools too. The parish council was supportive, and as well as making a grant to the scouts is also encouraging nearby parishes to make a similar grant for the benefit of children from those villages too. As someone who has been caving, this will not only provide some adventure at the scout hut, it will also mean that if they have the chance to go away and try it for real, the children will have had some initial experience of caving safety etc. Though to be fair, caving in an old slate mine in Wales is the real deal and its hard to imitate!
