Hard times

Both Cambridgeshire County and Sourh Cambs District Council are wrestling with what cuts to make because there is less money from central government, and still deliver services.
The Government has put a two per cent ceiling on any rates increase - any increase above that will need a referendum. So it is v likely that 1.99% is the increase. It works out at 20pence a week more for the district per household.
It is driving real efficiencies and forcing difficult decisions to be made.
One of the challenges for Cambridgeshire is that it is a fast growing county and it doesn't come off well from various formulae that govt uses to divvy up between counties.
