Rat-runs!

This part of south Cambridgeshire has many small roads, linking villages one to another - but because the A505 is so busy, there is a growing problem of these quiet meandering lanes being used as short-cuts by lorries seeking to shave a few minutes off getting onto the A11 and heading east, or rush-hour motorists fed up with inching along - its something people pointed out to me this afternoon.
It isn't what these routes were designed for, and the road surfaces show the wear and tear.
It's something for the County Council Highways to think through, before we lose these links completely. If you think I'm over-egging, have a look at Beech Lane in Pampisford. You'd lose a wheel or a small child down some of those potholes.
