Hinxton and Ickleton concerns over Uttlesford plans for border town

Parish councils in the south of Cambridgeshire are increasingly worried about the plans being strongly advocated by some councillors at Uttlesford District Council pressing to build a major settlement of 5,000 houses just south of the border down Gt Chesterford way.
Seriously, there has been little consultation with Cambridgeshire as to the impact of what is proposed, and this is a concern because as surely as anything such a settlement will see significantly increased traffic coming north to either work in Cambridge or join the A11 or catch the train from Whittlesford - and yes, there is a train station at Gt Chesterford but its services are of the slow and stopping variety and not really much use if you are heading down to London.
I and other councillors have been making our concerns known - one of the requirements of a sound Local Plan such as we hope our friends in Uttlesford will produce - is that there has been proper consultation on the impact of proposals on neighbouring areas.
