the pub is the hub

Went on local radio (Star Radio  and BBC Radio Cambs!) to talk about how communities can register a pub - or other things for that matter - as assets of community value. This means that if a pub is then put up for sale then the community have six weeks to put in a proposal to try to run it - maybe as a community pub - and there is then a longer period for a business case to be worked up. Not all pubs qualify for this, because it depends on how much they are part of the community - so a pub miles from anywhere would not meet the criteria.

I took the opportunity to say how much the village pub remains a vital part of village life and that many pubs are adopting and adapting to make themselves more viable. And I gave as an example the Queen's birthday celebrations which in Whittlesford were based at the Bees in the Wall.
