Inspirational young people in Gt Abington school

First thing this morning I spent an hour with a class of ten and 11 year olds at Gt Abington school, answering questions on housing developments in general, how planning works, and the potential impact on their village. They were astonishingly well informed, asking questions about the impact on roads, the environment and local services, and of course their own school.
I was asked about housing affordability, and on the balance between big developments and small.
I'm also hoping to have a discussion with the South Cambridgeshire District Youth Council when they have finished exams.
On a sad day for politics, with the murder of MP Jo Cox, I draw hope from the intelligence and reasonableness of our young people, well informed and committed.
