Planning application for cemetery at Whittlesford to go for hearing

The planning application for a cemetery at Spinneys Hill Farm on the Newton Road running out of Whittlesford is due to go for a hearing before the planning committee of the district council in early December. BUT the decision will be made by the planning inspector not by the district council.
I have been speaking with the head of planning at the district council regarding this application. The bid was due to be rejected by planning officers at the district council in October. However the decision was not communicated to the applicants in time, and they very quickly lodged an appeal to the planning inspector on the grounds of the determination being made out of time. Had the officers got the decision communicated in time as a refusal, I believe the applicants would have appealed anyway to the inspector.

The district council want to put the application to the December planning meeting which is on Weds 2 December, together with the officers recommendation for rejection. The reason for wanting to do this is because if the decision to reject made by the officers is endorsed by the planning committee then this fact will be taken into account by the planning inspector deciding the application. If the committee approves the application then again this would be taken account of by the inspector.
So the important thing now is for people locally to write in to South Cambs giving their views on the application. I will be attending the committee as the local member.
This scenario means that the applicants get the opportunity to put their views across too in public.
