Ye sunburnt sickle-men of August weary

As the Bard writes in "the Tempest". More locally and prosaically, the wooden bollards in Newton Road have taken a bit of a pounding from - according to residents - the very large combines that are trying to get the harvest in before the heavy rains expected at the end of this week.

The roads are really not built for the scale of modern farm machinery.
The parish council in Whitttlesford - working with County highways in trying to see if there is another way to protect the pavement on this very narrow road without making life more difficult for the comby drivers during this busy month.
