Surveying the Duxford-Whittlesford boundary line

There is a lot of work on boundaries coming up, and none closer to home than the the district ward boundary between WHITTLESFORD and DUXFORD which has left residents of the south side of Station Road and Royston Road in Whittlesford still technically in Duxford for the purposes of voting at elections. This is some four years after we had a welcome tea for those residents, which took place  at the old chapel next to the Red Lion Hotel.
About four years back the district council voted not to amend the boundary - and because of some constitutional issues I wasn't allowed to vote and had to leave the chamber while the debate and vote took place! Now residents of those roads have signed a petition asking the district council to make progress after this came up at the  annual parish meeting.
I have been talking to district council officers about what happens next. The decision on this will be taken not by the district council but by the Boundary Commission in London, who are currently working through proposed changes to the county council boundaries and who have announced a review of district council ones (see previous blogs on this issue.) Although it seems just a technical change, it has taken too long for the wheels of electoral reform to sort this.
