When will the Flintcross fire site be cleared up?

Last November a fire broke out at a waste site at Flint Cross. The fire raged for several days, consuming hundreds of tonnes of wood, for which the site was licensed to store, and other materials, such as mattresses, for which it had no licence.
The owners were given until mid-February to remediate, that is, to shift the tonnes of ash, the metal and other detritus from the fireThe water supply was checked and it was ok.
Because the fire was so fierce, the ash remained smouldering and hot and could not be removed in time. Actually, although tidying up has started, nothing has actually been removed from the site.
The Environment Agency have now set another date - early April for the clear up to be completed.
The longer the remains of the fire are left, the greater the risk of leakage into the water supply. The owners are being give almost five months to clear the site.
Local people continue to have serious doubts about the effective control by the Environment Agency over this situation. I will continue to press for actions and answers.
