A505 congestion study

At the beginning of the year I met with county council highways heads and pressed them again to take a serious look at the A505 and its ability to cope with the current and projected growth of traffic. I felt then that managers were in agreement.
So I welcome the plans to carry out this analysis announced now. The road is not one that flows into the City and so it was pretty much missed off the City Deal work which looked at how to get traffic in and out of Cambridge. The big employers round here agree that a trick was missed there in not looking at the A505, but anyway things are now happening.
The road carries village to village traffic, growing commuter traffic, and vehicles heading to the M11 and A10 to the west and to the A11 in the east. It is well over capacity and one of the busiest roads in the county. I'm expecting some serious recommendations to come out of this assessment which is not a moment too soon.
