Duxford footpath to Whittlesford rail station - can we make progress?

I'm very pleased that our new MP Heidi Allen has agreed to come and see for herself the situation regarding a footpath giving Duxford people access to the rail station at Whittlesford. This is something that people young and old have been pressing for. I wrote to Heidi setting out the problems with the support of local district councillors and the parish councils, and she is coming to see for herself.
Without going into a lot of detail, the railway companies were willing to consider this and then changed their minds last November and since then the shutters have come down.
This old photo - some 40 years old actually - shows the north bound platform, looking towards the booking office and away from the A505 road bridge. The second colour pic taken this week shows if you looked along towards the road bridge and you can just see that the platform extending underneath the A505
. The plan has been to bring a foot path round the back of Welchs Transport and down the embankment - suitably graded - onto that platform at that end. This would mean people would no longer have to cross the A505 and then take a route along Middlemoor Road and down Station Road in Whittlesford.
A final observation - interesting to note that in 1976 there were loos at the station - but not now - there's progress for you!
