Past, present and future - parish councils

one of the things that parish councils do so well is move seamlessly from past to present to future in the space of a few minutes, now focussing on some issue of modern infrastructure, now concerning themelves with a village matter that could have been on the agenda a hundred years or more ago.

So it was at Ickleton this evening, where among other things the parish council considered whether or not to fund a 20mph speed zone for the village, an application to raise the height of a flint wall, the development of the business incubator unit at the Wellcome Trusts Genome Sangar Institute, crime prevention proposals from the police, cycleways, and the fact that the church clock had stopped.
