Trees at Farm Lane Thriplow under threat

An application to South Cambs tree officer has been put in to take down most of the trees on one side of this tunnel. I walked the course with a long time resident and member of the parish council last week in the crisp winter sunshine.
Local concern is that the number of trees marked with a red stripe for felling would mean one side of the canopy of green that forms in the summer over the road would no longer exist. Removing the cover would also impact on the plant life on the bank below the trees according to those who know about these things.
I have been talking to the tree officer at the district council who has the final say - he is in discussion with the land owners.
