While the attractions don't hark back too much, and so I have yet to see bowling for a pig (which must, I imagine, break more health, cruelty and livestock transportation rules than you could shake a stick at) these are generally pastoral events which make South Cambridgeshire such a pleasant and family-orientated place to live.

all the fun of the fair
Not every village fair or show has such splendid fairground attractions as Duxford's last weekend, with a ferris wheel and helter-skelter, which our new MP Heidi Allen was happy to have a go on after judging the fancy dress competition. But Hinxton has its church fete, Whittlesford its summer ball, and earlier in the year there was the foodie-festival that the Thriplow daffodil week-end is fast becoming. All the villages have a summer event of one form or another and each has its own character that reflects some aspect of that village.
