Thriplow daffodil weekend gets even better

Well, after a chilly first day the sun and the fates were kind to Thriplow Daffodil Weekend today, with the afternoon positively beaming, as thousands of people flocked to the amazing village event.
Me, I just cycle over the hill from Whittlesford, ready to stuff my panniers with homemade greengage jam fromthe  Neighbourhood Watch stall, cake in huge slices from the village hall tearooms, some awesome charcuterie from Sedgwick of Toseland, pies from Samphire in Norfolk, and all sorts of other foodie delights.
Oh and beer and a pulled pork bun from the cheerful team at the Green Man to keep me steady.
Since its inception the weekend festival of daffs has raised some £600,000 for charities, and the whole village gets involved.
But the important thing is that the event is evolving: 10 years ago it was largely tea and cake, Morris dancing displays and shire horses. And there still is. but there are now more child-focussed rides and amusements, and a crafts field.
The introduction of a "food field" in recent years, now with good quality live music (Local singer/songwriter Melody Causton was really something) and all sorts of niche food and drink stalls, it is attracting a different sector - so generating a new and different income stream. This year I saw some hipster beardy types there who wouldn't have looked out of place on Shoreditch High Street!
Anyway for old times sake, here's the shire horse doing his stuff.
