and just like that - it was gone! Hooray for the Hinxton ford and the now banished concrete post

Setting aside for a moment other issues, a major beef from cyclists and people pushing buggies trying to get across the bridge over the Hinxton ford has been the concrete post blocking the way. When the new flood gates were put in, at the beginning of the year, the new infrastructure together with some old bits and pieces like this post made it all a bit tricky to manouver. 
Anyway, the good men (and women) of the county council depot at Whittlesford Bridge have been out there and taken the post away. This afternoon. After a bit of nagging. 
Maybe, like colonial statues of Queen Victoria, there is a depository somewhere of old posts that might have served a purpose at some point but no longer.
