Park 'n ride charges

The County is introducing a £1 car parking charge at all five of its park 'n ride sites. This will come into effect in July. If people are dropping off people to catch the buses into town or whatever then the charge will not apply.

I think this is a pity - it is a lot easier to drive into Cambridge than catching a fairly old-style bus and paying for the privilige - and now there is an extra charge. If there are four of you the costs of the bus fares doesnt save a lot compared with the car parking. So this seems to push against the whole concept of encouraging public transport to access into the narrow roads of the City.

This will annoy people - indeed it already has. I realise the county has to make savings and this is a straightforward way of raising some extra cash.
