Affordable homes in Whittlesford |
As your district councillor for
Whittlesford, Thriplow and Heathfield for the last four years I have:
- worked to make sure the Council spends your money wisely. I voted to freeze council tax this year, and for two years I chaired the committee that challenges how the Council manages money and risks;
- protected our village way of life. I fought against the Hanley Grange development, and I blocked plans to cram three houses onto the entrance to Heathfield;
- I secured a High Court injunction to prevent land being occupied illegally at Thriplow Heath, and last summer I made sure the district had proper plans to stop any illegal land grabs in South Cambs by people evicted from Dale Farm;
- got housing that helps local people - I worked with ba local charity and the District Council to ensure affordable homes being built in Whittlesford went to local families.
If I am re-elected I will:
- ensure we get the right development in the right place, not thousands of houses that will encircle and swamp our villages;
- work with the County and the parish council to find a sustainable solution to replace the C7 bus
- work to put in place a village warden for Whittlesford's elderly residents, and work with Heathfield people to find the funds for a good-quality playground.
