History of the parish church

Fascinating booklet launched yesterday - a short readable history of the church at Whittlesford, which goes back nearly a thousand years.

Affordable housing

Since the meeting chaired by Andrew Lansley in June - which Ashley Arbon had asked for - the parish council has commissioned a housing needs survey which updates one held by the district council a few years back. I have met with the officers of the Nicholas Swallow charity about their involvement, and discussed with the planning officers at south cambs. The point is though that we need planning applications to come in - and at the moment there are none. What there is though is need - I have had three requests for help - and I am sure there are more. So while the planning and building process is slow - not surprisingly perhaps given the costs - the need is real and present.

Planning application for houses at entrance to Heathfield

Went round Heathfield this morning and last evening with my newsletter - which includes letting people know about the planning application for two houses on the land at the entrance to Heathfield. I discussed it last Monday at Thriplow Parish Council - because of the strong feelings that this application causes, and its history, I've asked for it to go to the full planning committee in October.
